Nooceptin Formula

Lion’s Mane Extract (Hericium erinaceus) (fruiting body) (std. to 30% polysaccharides) - 400 mg

Lion’s Mane Extract is a key ingredient in Nooceptin, and it is responsible for many of the longer-term effects that Nooceptin has on memory function.

Lion’s Mane Mushroom is rich in hericenones and erinacines; two polysaccharides with unique nootropic properties. Both hericenones and erinacines stimulate the production of Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) in nerve cells. NGF is a neurotrophic factor which controls the growth, proliferation and maintenance of neurons. More NGF means greater neuron density and better neuron health.

Studies have shown that all this translates into significant improvements in cognitive performance after 6-12 weeks of Lion’s Mane use. As well as massive improvements in memory function, clinical trials have found that Lion’s Mane also reduces anxiety and improves symptoms of depression.

Combining the neurogenesis-inducing effects of Lion’s Mane with the other ingredients in Nooceptin leads to deep, lasting, meaningful cognitive enhancements. We recommend taking Lion’s Mane for at least 8 weeks and ideally more than 16 to see biggest improvements.

Citicoline (as cytidine 5’-diphosphocholine, sodium) - 200 mg

Citicoline’s key benefits:

  • Brain Energy
  • Focus
  • Mood Balance
  • Memory
  • Attention Span

Citicoline is the fastest-acting ingredient in Nooceptin. It is responsible for all of the immediate increases in focus, learning, information processing and working memory you experience after taking Nooceptin.

Citicoline’s main mechanism of action is raising acetylcholine levels in the brain. Acetylcholine is the main executive neurotransmitter in the brain. It is responsible for everything from speech and muscle control to information processing and working memory. Increasing acetylcholine levels in the brain is why Citicoline has been found to be so effective for enhancing focus, concentration and overall mental performance in the short term.

Citicoline also increases phosphatidylcholine levels in the brain. This is a vital structural component of your brain cell membranes. Having healthy phsophatidylcholine levels will help support brain health over the long-term. This effect may be partly why Citicoline has been found to partially protect against traumatic brain injury (TBI) and age related cognitive decline.

Finally, clinical trials have found that Citicoline supplementation increases brain energy. In one study, researchers showed that use of Citicoline increases brain cell metabolism by up to 14% (measured by brain ATP levels). It appears to do this by increasing mitochondrial density within brain tissues.

It should be no surprise then that Citicoline is the cornerstone of Nooceptin’s formula. Citicoline will have a powerful synergistic, coactive effect on the other ingredients in Nooceptin, producing greater results than taking the ingredients alone.

L-Theanine - 200 mg

L-Theanine’s key benefits:

  • Promoting creativity and mental calmness
  • Helps problem solving and focus
  • Attention span
  • Mood and motivation

Theanine is a fantastic nootropic ingredient for a few reasons. Not only does it have nootropic properties of its own, but it also has a synergistic effect on natural stimulants like caffeine, potentiating their desirable effects while attenuating their side effects.

L-Theanine works mainly by increasing levels of GABA in the brain. GABA is the neurotransmitter which slows down nerve activity in the brain. In simply terms, theanine boosts GABA production, which helps calm CNS activity, thereby suppressing tension, anxiety, and clearing brain fog.

Theanine is an ideal ingredient for a stack like Nooceptin. It has no side effects to speak of, has potent nootropic benefits of its own, helps suppress anxiety, promotes restful sleep, and helps mitigate the side effects of caffeine while making it more potent at the same time. Every daily, long-term nootropic should contain some Theanine.

Panax Ginseng Extract (root) - 200 mg

Panax ginseng is an amazing natural nootropic capable of enhancing brain performance in several different ways.

First of all, Panax ginseng is thought to be broadly neuroprotective. The saponins in Panax Ginseng have been found to improve stress and anxiety levels by a significant degree. Recent clinical studies have observed both improvements in anxiety and memory following regular Panax Ginseng supplementation, leading researchers to suggest that the Rb1 saponin in Panax Ginseng “can improve memory for a visual discrimination task and that the nootropic effect may be related to changes in anxiety”.

Looking more specifically at cognitive performance, a 2019 study published in Translational and Clinical Pharmacology found that Panax Ginseng was an effective cognitive enhancer in older people with mild cognitive impairment.

Panax Ginseng is a key ingredient in Nooceptin because of its broad spectrum, clinically proven effects and its excellent side effect profile. The 200mg in Nooceptin taken daily for 6 weeks or more should provide major improvements in anxiety and memory function.

Rhodiola Rosea Extract (root) (std. to 3% rosavins % 1% salidroside)

Rhodiola rosea has a long history of use as an anti-anxiety cure and general health booster in Eastern European traditional medicine. In recent years, clinical research has shown that Rhodiola rosea does have real nootropic effects when used consistently for several weeks.

Rhodiola rosea is first and foremost an adaptogen. There are many studies showing that rhodiola rosea can boost memory, improve focus, and support positive mood, but its main effects all stem from its ability to reduce stress and anxiety.

One study showed that taking rhodiola rosea extract for several weeks was able to significantly improve symptoms of generalized anxiety syndrome (GAD). Another study found that Rhodiola rosea was effective for alleviating mental fatigue. Perhaps most interestingly, Rhodiola’s nootropic effects were observed in a 2018 study published in Frontiers in Pharmacology, where researchers found it improved learning, focus and memory.

Taking a salidroside and rosavin-rich Rhodiola rosea extract every day for several weeks is a great way to stay on top of anxiety and stress-induced brain fog.

Bacopa Monnieri Extract (whole plant) (std to 40% bacosides) - 150 mg

Bacopa monnieri is a herb native to India that has been shown to improve cognitive function. There are many studies showing the effectiveness of Bacopa monnieri in treating dementia, Alzheimer's disease, ADHD, depression, anxiety, stress, insomnia, and more.

One study showed that taking Bacopa monnieri improved the ability of elderly patients to perform mental tasks such as remembering names and numbers. Another study showed that taking Bacopa Monnieri helped reduce symptoms of mild cognitive impairment. A meta-analysis published in 2019 even showed that taking Bacopa monnieri can potentially reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease.

Bacopa seems to have numerous mechanisms of action. Its bioactive components (bacosides A and B) appear to protect the brain against oxidative damage, inhibit amyloid formation, and promote the growth of dendrites which connect your neurons (known as dendritic branching). This makes it one of the most potent long-term cognitive enhancers in existence, especially when it comes to memory retention and recall.

In a 2019 study published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, researchers found that “the nutraceuticals Ginseng and Bacopa produced effect sizes for cognitive enhancement which were comparable with those seen for modafinil, albeit in different cognitive domains.”

Ginkgo Biloba Extract (leaf) (std to 24% ginkgo flavone glycosides & 6% terpene lactones) - 100 mg

Ginkgo biloba is a plant native to China that has been used since ancient times to improve cognitive function. Today, scientists continue to study the effects of ginkgo biloba on the human body, particularly the brain.

Clinical research shows that at least two classes of compounds in Ginkgo biloba - glycosides and terpenes - increase blood flow within the brain. They work by dilating your cerebral blood vessels and by decreasing blood viscosity. These effects combine to dramatically increase oxygen and nutrient delivery to your brain cells.

The effect that Ginkgo biloba has on brain circulation means it has broad effects on cognitive performance and brain health. Studies have shown that taking Ginkgo biloba daily for several weeks consistently and significantly improves memory, learning and reported mental energy.

Ginkgo biloba makes the other ingredients in Nooceptin more effective by increasing their delivery to the brain while generally increasing mental energy and brain cell health. Stacking Ginkgo with other nootropics has been found to have synergistic effects on cognition.

Putting It All Together

The power of Nooceptin is that each of these clinically-backed nootropic ingredients work in different yet complementary ways to enhance different aspects of cognitive performance and brain health. These different pathways all strengthen and potentiate one another, so you end up with a comprehensive brain supplement that produces benefits way beyond what you get from taking the ingredients alone.

Nooceptin is also purposeful designed to produce compounding benefits. Several of the ingredients in Nooceptin work by promoting brain cell growth and proliferation. This means they take a while to start working, but once they do, they produce greater and more lasting benefits as time goes on.

In other words, Nooceptin produces noticeable improvements in cognitive function beyond what is possible using its ingredients in isolation, and it gets better the longer you take it.

By taking a strictly scientific, minimalist and evidence-based approach to ingredient selection and dosing, Nooceptin delivers real, meaningful cognitive enhancement in a safe, sustainable and lasting way.
